Martin RIGBY

Hi my name is Martin Rigby and I am a BACP registered therapist, qualified supervisor and accredited mindfulness teacher.

My supervision approach is grounded in the person-centred approach and informed by Hawkins and Shohet’s seven-eyed process model to offer a holistic, professional and supportive experience. I place much importance on developing a close supervisory relationship, giving you the support, encouragement, motivation and appropriate challenge to learn, grow and develop as a therapist in your own way and at your own pace.

  • Are you a disabled therapist (trainee or qualified) trying to navigate the

  • challenges and opportunities of training and practice

  • Are you a neurodivergent practitioner who works with people of all abilities in

  • private practice?

  • Are you a tutor, trainer or coach with a specific interest in teaching or training

  • from a more disability-aware, neuro-affirmative perspective?

  • Are you a helping professional providing support services to groups of

  • disabled people?

If so and you are looking for a safe, supportive and friendly place where you will feel heard, understood and valued perhaps I could be the right supervisor for you?

As an Emotional Respite associate supervisor, I have personal life experience of living, working and studying with a disability. I have also counselled, supervised, worked alongside and lived with people and professionals at all different stages of living with and managing different disabilities and long-term health conditions. I understand firsthand the frustration you may experience if your training environment, placement or workplace is not accessible. I know what it can feel like to be in a group or situation where you are made to feel different, excluded or feel like you have to strive harder to prove yourself in some way.

I appreciate sometimes just how much extra effort, energy and concentration it can take to complete an assignment, travel to work or placements and offer or have therapy yourself when you live with a disability, chronic pain or a long-term health condition.
